We remain your social dance and as such continue to provide the range of dances that are most commonly done throughout QLD.
Added to the dance board, the additional dance requests can vary from an old favourite to something new that dancers want to try. See below for printed and online request sheet.
History: In days gone by, all dance teachers worked to an etiquette, all used a set of dances and all dancers could attend any Social just about anywhere in QLD or beyond and take part in most if not all dances for the evening. All teachers taught the 13 Comp dances and everyone could do those throughout Australia wherever they went as they were always on the program. A base core of around 70 dances were done around QLD with the new or place specific ones thrown in, but as a general rule, no matter where you went to dance you would be familiar with the majority of dances on the program.
As time moves on, there has been a tendency for the newer teachers on the scene to craft their own dance program specific to themselves and hold a social at the teaching venue. This has unfortunately fractured the dance socials somewhat as it means that those dancers can only do those dances at that venue.
